Open Rain or Shine!
It has been quite a hard winter on our growers, even for those with hoophouses! And with the latest weather ‘fun’, many were knocking off snow and ice from greenhouse plastic…….who would be a grower eh?! But we are open this Saturday, February 15th, rain or shine, on 8th St at Main, 10am-2pm…so pack your rain jacket, shopping bag and get out in the fresh air and take home something wonderful from the Market!
Despite the weather we will still continue to see fresh produce and with the lengthening (and hopefully warmer) days approaching we will start to see different spring crops coming on soon. For this Saturday’s Market (Feb. 15th) we will have from RJ Farms: Spinach, Chard, Kale, Carrots, Radish, Lettuce, Potatoes, Onions, Leeks..and Kiyokawa Orchard’s Pears and Apples, including juice apples….. …plus loads of fresh farm eggs.Daniel from Sweet Home Farm Meats will be having a special on his pasture-raised ground beef and on sausages…Polish, Andouille (Cajun) and Brats…so stock up! He will also have goat, pork, beef , chickens and bones too. Shy Ann Meats will have bacon and smoked pork chops and Wild Oregon will (hopefully) have fresh seafood, if the storms have been kind to the fishing boats. Watch our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oregon-City-Farmers-Market/89748557692 for a post about Wild Oregon…. as soon as we get the word.
24 vendors this week, including caramels, wine, cider, coffee beans, mushrooms, salsa, hummus, jams, chutneys , lemon curd and relishes, dog treats, fruit vinegars, roasted nuts, baked goods, (La Provence is out this Sat. back next) , goats milk soaps landscaping shells. We have live music and ready-to-eat foods too. The kids POP (Power Of Produce!) club continues. Bring the kiddos (5-12)..they get $2 every time they come to market to shop for fresh produce! Thanks to the Oregon City Rotary Club Foundation we can match up to $5 if you use the Oregon Trail (SNAP) Card to buy market tokens…and if you run out of money you can buy $5 tokens at our Information Booth to spend in the Market..they make great gifts.
