Kids love the POP Club!

Kids love the POP Club!

The Kids P.O.P. (Power Of Produce) Club program, started in 2011,  is a healthy eating program and over 1,600 local kids join each year! It’s a free kid’s club held each week on Saturdays at the Market for ages 5-12yrs. We give them a shopping bag and every market day the kids receive $2 in wooden tokens to buy fresh produce or food plants. We also provide them with activities  focused on healthy eating, cooking, food-growing and physical excercise. This P.O.P. program has now gone national and markets all over the States (even in Canada) have copied our lead and are introducing kids to healthy foods too!  You can watch the P.O.P. Club video Clackamas County made this past summer here: http://youtu.be/JkXZATbO3Pg

Help low-income customers eat more fresh veggies with the SNAP Match program!

Help low-income customers eat more fresh veggies with the SNAP Match program!

The Market’s SNAP Match Program gives our low-income food stamp customers an extra $5 when they purchase $5 or more in Market tokens at the Info. Booth on market day with their SNAP Card. This gives them extra funds to purchase healthy whole foods and gives them an incentive to shop “fresh and local”. We strive to keep this program going year-round .  New Seasons and The Rotary Club Foundation of Oregon City support this program, for which we are very thankful , but nevertheless we always run out several months each year, with your help we can keep it going every month!

Our wonderful winter volunteers, Jeff, Barb, Paul and Gail....they certainly could do with a day off ...can you lend a hand?

Also…if you have a couple of hours now and again we have all kinds of opportunities during the Winter for Volunteering! We need help at set up (8-10am), in the Info Booth (10am-2pm) and at close (2-3pm). It’s not necessary to help at every market (Saturdays, twice a month in the Winter) or to take more than one shift!  But we’re a happy bunch, it’s a GREAT way to start the weekend off , you get excercise in the fresh air AND help the market continue to be community resource! Most of our volunteers have been with us for many , many years…and they need a well-earned break:) Call the manager with questions: 503 734-0192 or email marketmanager@orcityfarmersmarket.com                                                                                      And Thank You!!!!!
