Holiday Market take 2!!

2013-12-11 11.32.03Sooooo let’s try this again~! Cheerful and Christmasy…… that describes this Saturdays Market in a nutshell!   MUCH warmer temps forecast this Saturday and NO rain or snow! We cancelled last Saturday’s Market due to the extreme cold so we are all ready for for some holiday spirit after three weeks of being gone. Bring a list, check it twice….find us on 8th St at Main, 10am-2pm this Saturday (Dec. 14th) AND next Saturday (Dec. 21st).

Deck the Halls this weekend…..we’ll have trees, wreaths, swags and bunches of greenery! Hand-made local crafts too. Cute wooden reindeer decorations, beautifully crafted wooden carving and serving boards, spoons, bread knives and more, hand-spun hats and gloves, farm-made soaps,  and ‘old world’ treats in a ceramic basin….traditional Christmas puddings! A new vendor Rain/Shine/Sweet joins us this week with a great selection of  hand-crafted caramels and brittles (70% of all ingredients are either local or organic) Check out their selection:http://www.rain-shine-sweet.com/our-candy

Stock up for the holiday entertaining with Green Card Salsas, and Hummus and Pita, Jalapeno Jam (from Diana’s Delights) makes a great appetizer over cream cheese or chevre with crackers. Aunt Tammy’s back with healthy dog treats..and of course we’ll  baked goods from , Big Foot Bread and tiny cup cakes from the Happy Food Co! La Provence Bakery, Wild Oregon Seafood,Shy Ann Meats , Daisy Fed and Vul Coffee are gone this Sat, back on the 21st. (That’s what happens when we change dates!)

Be merry AND healthy this holiday season….load up on local fresh produce including: Sweet potatoes, four varieties of potatoes, chard , kale, spinach, bell peppers, hot peppers, carrots, beets, cauliflower, onions, parsley root, celeriac,  green onions, winter squash (many diff. varieties), sugar pie pumpkins, leeks, cabbage, broccoli, parsley, rosemary, garlic, radishes, brussels, possibly salad-mix …and more! For fruit we will have Kiyokawa Family Orchard’s apples and pears and Pitkin Winterrowd Farms quince.
2013-11-23 10.10.56 Healthy farm-fresh eggs from RJ Farms for the holiday baking and for nutritious pasture-raised meats check out what Sweet Home Farms have (goat, pork, beef, chickens) and plan your holiday menu. AND did you know? …Eats of Eden are now making healthy delicious SOUPS as well as their Kombucha. Great for the hectic holidays, the soups come frozen so you can  heat and serve a nutritious meal quickly, without cooking from scratch.

2013-11-23 10.26.4825 vendors….including NEW Cattle Drive BBQ.…cooked over Red Oak coals, the delicious aromas will get you’ll wanting to try a hot sandwich so come on down to 8th St. (parking is easy and free on Sats.) and keep those vendors happy! Live music by Kevin Shay Johnson starts at 10.30. We still have the $5 Match for the OR Trail (SNAP) card and POP Club kids get $2 to shop for produce. Market tokens make great (and useful) gifts, use your Debit Card to buy wooden $5 tokens and we’ll pop ’em in a little muslin bag with a Market schedule….warm up in the Caufield House Cafe across the street, or in Nebbiolo Wine Bar next door. 

We’ll be back again for the Merry Christmas (Solstice) Market, next Saturday Dec. 21st…….and try shopping  locally this year, Downtown OC has some delightful small shops and eateries….cheers:)

The market accepts cash, debit, EBT (SNAP) and P-EBT cards. WIC and Senior Farm Direct checks are accepted by all produce vendors and expire on Nov 30th each year. Stop by our information booth for information.
