Harvest Stew…..and Fall decorations!
After the wet and windy market last Saturday we are looking forward to a lovely fall day this weekend! Bring your baskets and bags, there’s lots to pick up at this time of the year. Spindles and Fiber are back…..we have missed Carl’s woodworking these past few weeks, so is As Iron Sharpens Iron….remember your blunt tools and knives.
FYI: Kiyokawa Orchards are back in the Market through the Winter starting NEXT Saturday! We’ll also have kids Cider-Pressing, plus apple tasting, apple recipes and hot cider for everyone…Oct 15th.
For any of you who have the SNAP card…..there is one SNAP-To-It! this season starting at 9:15 on Saturday. (BUT we are having a special SNAP To It! on November 19th, for the Thanksgiving Holiday…more later). If you don’t have a SNAP card, but know of someone who does…please spread the word or bring them. Sign up at the Information Booth by 9.15 am and take advantage of the $10 SNAP Match! Then you get a guided market tour, get a recipe and watch the demo/tasting where Chef Deborah will prepare a Harvest Stew, using Birkeland Farm’s Beef broth as a base, and adding a variety of seasonal vegetables and Campfire Farms sausage. Once the demo is over, participants receive an insulated shopping bag, calculator, nutrition handouts and more recipes, cooking utensils, and $5 in market tokens. Don’t have a SNAP card? Watch the demo anyway, taste the stew and get ideas for Fall cooking. You won’t want to miss it!
The seasons changing and bringing new products into the Market. Pholx and Figwort have been foraging on their farm and have wild mushrooms, and Wild Oregon is bringing the first of the season Dungeness CRAB!!! Plus plenty of fresh salmon, Chinook and Coho…and more.
Getting ready for Halloween? You HAVE to check out Daisy Feds amazing soaps, they are works of art!
See you all Saturday, we’re open every week now through Oct 29th, then switch to every other week on November 5th and open at 10am till 2pm, for the Winter season. Pick up a schedule at the Info Booth.
