By 21 November 2019

Chicken liver pate from Campfire Farms…hmm hmm hmm….

Get the best fresh and local food for your Thanksgiving table this Saturday! Fisher Ridge Farm still has whole and half turkeys left. Call Sue Fisher to reserve yours at 503 769-2322 (evenings are best). These WILL thaw in time for cooking on Thursday. Campfire Farms is bringing chicken, pork and duck this weekend, and to help you with the meal they’ll also have delicious chicken liver pate, duck livers, gravy, duck stock and duck rillettes….wowee!! Serve the pate and/or rillettes as appetizers with crusty bread or crackers and pickles…they make things easy when entertaining. Diana’s Delight’s Orange Ginger marmalade can give an extra special glaze your Holiday meats and put her Cranberry Peach Relish on the table as an easy ‘sauce’.

Fresh Razor Clams and Razor Calm Chowder coming this Saturday.

Wild Oregon Seafood is bringing fresh Coho and Steelhead salmon plus vac-packed Albercore tuna, Chinook salmon and Rock Fish. Robin will also have crab and clams this week, plus Razor Clam Chowder, and smoked salmon!

Just one farm, still has pie pumpkins, so get to Coyote Ridge Farm’s booth quick this week.

We will have a crazy amount for produce too, but even so don’t delay, to get the best selection come as close to opening as you can (10am). We’ll even have heirloom tomatoes from RJ Farms for a slice of summer! You can expect lots of cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, leeks, all kinds of braising and salad greens, lettuce, parsley, carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, salad turnips, radishes, parsnips, winter squash and Coyote Ridge still has pie pumpkins for your made-from-scratch pies. This is just a glimpse of what we’ll have ……..you can expect more selection!

So many mushrooms this week from Mindful Mushrooms and Brown Bottle Farm.

And can we talk mushrooms? Not only will we have Mindful Mushrooms cultivated beauties but Brown Bottle Farm is bringing wild Chanterelles, Hedgehogs and Matsuaki mushrooms. Unsure how to cook? Ask the vendors.

2 kinds of fresh cider coming….

You’ll find 2 kinds of fresh pressed cider (fresh as it comes, often squeezed on the farm on the Friday before market) at Kiyokawa Orchards booth. The ‘Mixed’ is a delicious combination of all their apples and the ‘Red’ is squeezed solely from their Mountain Rose red-fleshed apples, so not only is it fab to drink but pretty too. Either of these can be spiced with the stone-ground spices from the Spice Pilgrim. The Orchard is also sending a stellar mix of apples and pears for fresh eating or pies. And talking of pies, The Pie Guy will be baking all night to bring you fresh buttercrust pies, but get there early before he is sold out.

Did you know Trail Distilling grows their own rye?

Drink ‘local’ too this Holiday. Trail Distilling will have a lovely Whiskey toddy to sample along with the recipe for you to make at home.  Stone Circle Cider will have hot mulled hard cider to try and purchase, Forest Edge Vineyards will have a selection of their wines, including their sparkling Chardonnay plus the first Persimmons and last of the Quince. Wandering Duck Fruit Wines will have a selection of whole fruit wines if you like the sweeter side. 503 Distilling will have their cocktails in a can, great to grab and go…or crack open and drink! Keep your gut healthy this winter and make great ‘mocktails’ (or cocktails!) with WildLand Kombucha, they have a variety of flavors including the amazing Blackberry Sage and Ginger Cayenne, by the bottle or growler…stock up! All profits go to support wildland firefighters to whom we owe so much in the West.

Back this week is Oomph Cooking Blends to add flavor to everything you cook and their packets are great as host/hostess gift’s. Mic’s Mix is back with Gluten Free mixes and baked goods, as well as Portland Ashwagandha Farm. New to our market is Cacao Kingdom, selling bean to bar chocolate using single origin cacao beans. They also make traditional Scottish Shortbread using a secret family recipe handed down for generations…ya gotta try some!

46 vendors this week, live music by the terrific Steve and Margo Show. Bama’s BBQ is on vacation but we’ll have savory and sweet crepes from Cafe de Crepe and tamales and more from Sara’s Tamales. She’ll be selling frozen packs too to stick in the freezer and help with easy meals over the holidays. Bring your bags, coolers for the car and enjoy a morning shopping for the Holidays!

We’ll be back after this Saturday on Dec. 7th…then the Christmas Market is Dec 21st…mark your calenders! Or pick up a bookmark with the Winter Market dates at the Info Booth.
