Eat Local….AND Get Prepared!

By 9 June 2017

                    More berries this week!

Kill two birds with one stone! Shop for local produce (including more farms with strawberries -Albeke Farms are back with the first Shuksans), meats (Birkleland Farm has a ‘boat load’ of chicken…including whole, breasts, livers, hearts, feet, bone broth, beef and lamb shares), seafood, artisan foods, wines, ciders, crafts, plants, beautiful flowers….AND get information on how YOU can be prepared for earthquakes, fires, floods…..all kinds of disasters!

Our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will have information for you, as well as training opportunities. The Red Cross will have the all-important checklist of supplies. Providence Medical Center will have fall and stroke info. Cascadia Quake Kits will have just that…kits. Make it easy and buy one of their pre-made supply kits and rest assured knowing you have it! Damsel In Defense will have all kinds of personal safety equipment to equip, empower and educate you and your family, and the Fire Dept will have safety tips and lots of give-a-ways. PLUS an fire engine is stopping by between 10am-noon (depending on emergencies),  so bring the kids, they get hats and stickers and can sit up in the truck…a great photo opportunity! Clackamas Volunteers In Medicine who have a FREE health clinic on Molalla will be on hand to let you know what services they can provide…even if you have no health care benefits or a high deductible with the plan you do have. They are an amazing resource within our community…spread the word!

This Saturday we will have more produce, including more berries…and next week…CHERRIES!!! This week Albeke Farms, Utopia Woodworking are back in the Market, as is 2 Towns Cider and Petal Heads (plants). Out (back next week) is Olympia Provisions, Culture Aromatics, Fisher Ridge Farm, Market Pasta.

SNAP To It! this week is brought to Market by a partnership with the Market and OSU Extension and funded by Clackamas Federal Credit Union. Have a SNAP card? You can access $15 extra, sign up at the Information booth by 9.15am!
