Best Thanksgiving Market..ever!

Come and thank our wonderful farmers and growers this Saturday!

So as we sit around the Thanksgiving table next Thursday, let’s give thanks for the local farmers who bring such goodness to our bodies and souls! The 4 local winter-produce farms have a stunning array of products this week and the 3 pastured animal farms have all kinds of cuts from a variety of meats. Wild seafood is in abundance too. 40 vendors (including flowers and knife-sharpening) and a DRY day..whoo hoo! Read on, make your list…and remember the early bird gets the worm…..we open at 10am!

RJ Farms will have potatoes, reds and yukons, cauliflower, spinach, kale, chard, a few strawberries(!), peppers, cilantro, winter squash walnuts and eggs…these usually go fast so don’t delay! Sun Love Farm is bringing Brussel sprouts, celeriac, carrots, rutabaga, leeks, cabbage, kale, fennel, winter squash, mustard greens, turnips, broccoli, sweet peppers. Coyote Farm has winter squash (delicata, sweet pumpkin, butternut, red curry, acorns, buttercup) parsnips, Brussel sprouts, fennel, rainbow beets, japanese turnips, radishes,potatoes, onions, shallots, leeks, spring onions, salad greens, bok choy, kales, collards, chard, turkish parsley. Brown Bottle Farm has cabbages, carrots, herbs, beets, leeks, winter squash, onions, kale, collard greens, parsnips, celeriac, specialty radishes, mixed greens, possibly wild mushrooms, and more. Don’t forget to try their hot sauce and mushroom vinegar!

3 pastured meat farms….great selection!

Fisher Ridge Farm has ONE turkey left (pasture-raised and frozen) It’s 16-17 lbs get to market early if you want it! They will also have pork roasts and chops, ham slices and bacon. Birkeland Farm beautiful rich bone broth, sold frozen it’s great for both soups, stuffing etc. Lynn’s gravy, farm made, (sold frozen too) and delicious cranberry relish is a must. The farm also has chicken every which way for those folks who don’t want to deal with a turkey. Campfire Farm has pork…plus delicious sausages….terrific with Caldwell Family Farm’s sauerkraut. Bret Caldwell will also have his hot sauce, pickles, BBQ sauce, apple butter, tomatillo Salsa, ketchup, and chili powder for sale.

A big juicy chicken can be an alternative to Turkey…plus Birkeland farm has bone broth, gravy and cranberry relish too!

Wild Oregon is bringing Sturgeon which is rare, and Chinook, Coho salmon too. Robin will also have Petrole sole and shellfish including Netarts Bay oysters (in shell and out) Steamer and Razor clams (chowder too) and crab meat. Her smoked Chinook spread is excellent for appetizers, vac-packed tuna is available.

Kiyokawa Orchards is sending 21 varieties of apples including certified Organic Crimson Crisp and the last of the Mountain Rose, plus 12 kinds of pears, including the amazing Forelle, and 2 kinds of Asian pears. But the BIG news is that for the first time he is sending his own just-pressed apple cider, just in time for the holidays and a warm cup around the fire! Forest Edge Vineyards (apart from their wines) will have quince, asian pear and persimmons, the Fuyu variety, all grown without the use of chemicals on their permaculture farm.

Grano Bakery back this week and not again till Spring.

Grano Bakery is back just for this market and they together with La Provence Bakery will have crusty breads and sweet treats. 2 Sisters Bakery is bringing vegan pastries and loaves ….and you better believe The Pie Guy will be up all night making loads of pies for your feast. Diana’s Delights will have scones and rugelach too.

Their Bluebird Alpine Liqueur is astonishing! It will put hairs on your chest on the slopes.

Eastside Distillery,  Thomas and Sons Distillery (unusual spirits crafted from tea and flora), Wandering Duck Fruit wines, Kings Raven Winery, Forest Edge Winery and Portland Cider Co. round up the selection of alcohol at the market this week!

Come and enjoy the market, with so much good stuff for your Thanksgiving table PLUS hot food, locally-roasted coffee AND Big Yellow Taxi playing great music from 10.30-1.30pm. Plenty of close parking, kids POP Club ($2 to every child, 5-12yrs) and Debit and SNAP cards welcome, with a $10 SNAP Match. We have been running for 13 summer seasons and 8 winter seasons…come and be thankful for our hard-working local farmers this Saturday!

The market accepts cash, debit, EBT (SNAP) and P-EBT cards. WIC and Senior Farm Direct checks are accepted by all produce vendors and expire on Nov 30th each year. Stop by our information booth for information.
