Thanksgiving Market!

By 15 November 2018

We have a completely full market this Saturday, with new and returning vendors. For once the weather is co-operating and the sun will be shining, bringing out the colors of the fall produce and flowers, the market should look fab!

Fresh produce is in abundance. From Brown Bottle Farm we’ll have an amazing variety of salad greens, plus cabbage, carrots, winter squash, beets, radishes. They are bringing their hot sauce too plus 3 varieties of wild-foraged mushrooms including Chanterelles, Hedgehog and Yellow Feet. Sun Love Farm will have watermelon radish (delicious fresh, roasted and even curried!) , collards, Brussel sprouts, arugula, mustard greens, escarole, endive, radicchio, green and savoy cabbage, leeks, celeriac, broccoli, salad turnips, butternut squash, acorn, pie pumpkins. Coyote Ridge Farm will have their wonderful parsnips, fingerling potatoes and more. (Coyote Ridge is taking a break this winter and will be back in the spring after this weekend) Just in case you thought summer was over, RJ Farms still have tomatoes, peppers and strawberries, as well as their gorgeous cauliflower, fresh hazelnuts and plenty of farm fresh eggs. Kiyokawa Orchards are sending a huge selection of apples and pears and their just-pressed cider. Lee’s Gardens are bringing fresh flowers…the last time before their Spring daffodils.

Turkeys doing what turkeys do on Fisher Ridge Farm!

For protein, Fisher Ridge Farm still has a limited supply of turkeys left. Email Sue and  Ralph at:  fisherridgefarm@gmail.com   or call 503 769-2322.

A good selection of fruit and cider this week from Kiyokawa Orchards

Campfire Farms will have pork roasts from pastured pigs, as well as other cuts of meat, bacon, sausage and more. For a real treat try the Duck Liver Pate and their bone broth makes a great gravy. Wild Oregon is bringing fresh Coho salmon and Crab, plus smoked salmon, including Robin’s delicious spread, crab cakes and chowder for more starter options.

Delice Confection’s cute pumpkin cookies may just sell out!

On the sweet side La Provence Bakery will have pumpkin croissants for breakfast plus you’ll have choices of many different butter-crust pies from the Pie Guy.

Trail Distilling are back this week.

StoneCircle Cider will be serving up samples of their mulled ‘English-style’ hard cider, so make sure to get a taste. Forest Edge Vineyard will have their wines (grown using permaculture methods, working with nature and the soil) as well as Quince and Persimmons from their many fruit trees. Trails Distilling will be sampling their spirits. Yup, you can eat local….AND you can also drink local too!

Hard to believe it’s almost December and it’s not too early to be thinking of gifts. Belamy Leather is back this week, Opportunity Earth has decorative wax food covers (perfect as hostess gifts) and just in time for the Holidays Landia Skincare’s long awaited Men’s Line is here (Landia For Men)! They have a Shave Creme, Face Creme and Beard & Hair Oil and will be adding more throughout the winter. All handmade with toxin free, organic ingredients, scented for ‘him’ using essential oils and packaged in recyclable, budget-friendly starter sizes. They will also have their brand new Ladies Shave Creme and lots of their 1 ounce shea hand & body cremes, 2oz Rosewater Toners and Body Care & Face Care Trial Sets – all perfect as stocking stuffers!

Jesse Rae is rocking out in the music tent, Cafe de Crepe and Sara’s Tamales are serving up hot food and Double Jump Coffee have your hot drinks covered. Enjoy the morning shopping ‘local’ for your Thanksgiving! The Market thanks you.
