It’s the last market before St Paddy’s Day so stock up with cabbage, both Caldwell Farm and RJ Farm will have plenty. SunLove Farm is bringing (amongst other things) an interesting selection of bunches of nettles, savory, peppermint and Korean licorice mint….plus pretty purple cauliflower. They’ll be loads of eggs from happy hens…ducks too.
You’ll find meat at Birkland Farms, Shy Ann Meats, Scratch Meats and Deck Farms have wide variety of certified Organic meats including lamb chops….which are on sale (again) this week. Wild Oregon is bringing fresh Rock Fish, Skate and Steelhead, crab (whole, meat and cakes) and will have plenty of smaller (half to 2lbs) pieces of frozen Albacore Tuna. Natures Wild Harvest is bringing wild and cultivated mushrooms and mushroom powder (great for seasoning and adding depth to soups, gravies), water-cress, plus all their wild fruit syrups, honey and jams. Birkland Farms will have delicious (frozen) chili and chicken broth… as well as their whole chickens!
Starting this Saturday we’ll have fresh flowers, strawberry and herb starts too, in addition to native plants from Beaverlake Nursery. Next market (March 19th) is our annual Seed and Plant Swap, bring saved or left-over seeds, plant divisions, tubers, pots, flats, extra tools. Don’t have anything to bring? Take some seeds anyway and sign up for seed-saving classes later in the year. On March 19th we’ll have even more plant starts for sale and seeds from the Portland Seed House.
