What’s New At The Market

By 8 July 2020
Thanks to our valued customers for taking extra precautions while shopping our market! We appreciate you wearing a mask, keeping 6ft distancing and utilizing our handwashing stations. Let us know if you need a mask! Thanks to a generous donation from Local 701 and Local 555, we have plenty of individually sealed masks to hand out. If you’re looking for something with a bit more pizazz to it, stop by Sew Silly for a larger inventory of specially designed masks.
We appreciate your commitment in joining us to make our market safe for all!

Welcome Back Kiyokawa Family Farms and Pam’s Pickled Products!

You know it’s July when Kiyokawa Family Farms is back at the market. Given our cooler weather this year, the cherry season is a bit delayed but Kiyokawa’s is making up for it by bringing lots of varieties this Saturday. Zoe will be selling in their usual location across from the info booth and is eager to send you home with some of nature’s candy. We welcome them back to the market and look forward to seeing them. Make sure to stop by!
Many of you know how delicious Pam’s Pickled Products taste! This week Pam and Paul are bringing a seasonal selection of locally sourced pickled beans, asparagus, sweet onions, garlic and old fashioned zucchini relish. Pam’s products earned the acidified foods certification from OSU and meet all the safety standards from the Oregon Department of Agriculture and FDA.
We are so happy to see them return!

Welcome Dirt Rich Farm starting July 18th!

Dirt Rich Farm is a market sized farm based in Canby, Oregon. All fruits and vegetables are grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. Alison of Dirt Rich tells me, “We use old and new gardening techniques to increase soil health and diversity so that we may thrive. Healthy people eat healthy food and healthy food comes from healthy soil.”

Despite being only one acre in size, Dirt Rich produces a diverse and seasonal vegetable diet for many families throughout the Portland Metro region.

Exciting news for all of you burger lovers out there. Killer Burger will be making their debut at the market every Saturday in August, except for the 22nd. Include them in your market plans by taking lunch to go. Killer Burger is a well known local company and has a great menu (including veggie options)! Welcome Killer Burger!

https://youtu.be/VpbU0rXaygU Check out the You Tube link, compliments of OSU Extension Service for a how to on jam making! Since we can’t do it together in person at the market, one of OSU’s Senior Instructors, Kelly Streit, made a video as an alternative. Have fun with the kids in your home kitchen!
