What’s in Season – January in Oregon

By 22 January 2026

What’s in Season this Month:

January in the Pacific Northwest brings a beautiful mix of hardy winter crops and storage staples. Look for:

•     Root vegetables: carrots, beets, parsnips, turnips, rutabagas
•     Hearty greens: kale, chard, collards, spinach, winter chicories, pac choi
•     Brassicas: cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower
•     Alliums: onions, leeks, garlic
•     Winter squash: delicata, butternut, kabocha
•     Apples & pears: crisp, sweet, and perfect for baking or snacking
•     Local proteins: eggs, pasture‑raised meats, mushrooms, cheese and seafood
•     Pantry goods: honey, grains, beans, preserves, breads, and handcrafted staples
These ingredients shine in soups, roasts, grain bowls, and all the cozy meals that make January feel grounded and nourishing.

Hot coffee, fresh pastries, and ready‑to‑eat meals will be waiting to warm your hands as you shop this Saturday. Many of our vendors are debuting winter specials, and our artisans have new creations inspired by the season.

We’re excited to welcome back Simple Trail Granola and Gather in Flame candles, plus NEW vendors, Bocado (Dominican empanadas) and Urban River Spirits (non-alcoholic cocktail mixers). This is also the last week for GD Kimbap (hand-rolled fresh kimbap, plus Bulgogi bowls) before they head back to their winter season at Beaverton Farmers Market.

Thank you for supporting local. Every purchase you make strengthens our regional food system, supports small farms, and keeps our community vibrant. Winter is a challenging season for growers, and your presence truly makes a difference.

See you this Saturday from 10am-2pm at Clackamas Community College’s GREEN LOT 1 here in Oregon City.

VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Bocado Empanadas

Bocado brings the heart of the Dominican Republic straight to the market, one perfectly crimped empanada at a time. Their name means “a bite,” but every bite carries a whole story—of heritage, migration, family kitchens, and the joy of sharing food that feels like home.

Owned and operated by a mother daughter duo, Bocado’s empanadas honor the flavors they grew up with bright flavors, slow-simmered fillings, and dough made the way their families taught them. Each recipe reflects a piece of Dominican culinary culture—savory meats, vibrant vegetables, and the unmistakable warmth of island cooking.

What sets Bocado apart is their devotion to craft. Their empanadas are hand-folded, generously filled, and cooked to golden perfection. Bocado invites you to slow down, savor, and experience the richness of Dominican heritage—one delicious bite at a time.
