Welcome 2022!

By 6 January 2022

Welcome 2022!

After an extra week off, we are ready for our market to resume! We hope you are, as well.

No doubt you’re feeling a bit of the post-holiday slump. It’s hard to get motivated during these cold, dark days but the market can help cure those blues! Join us this Saturday to restock your pantries, freezers and fridges with fresh, locally grown and made food.

While the cold days can take its toll on farm crops, rest assured our farms still have nutrient dense veggies to bring on Saturday. Dark, leafy greens and hardy root crops will be available plus fresh herbs to perk up those soups and stews. Don’t forget some micro greens for an extra boost of nutrition and protein packed mushrooms, excellent for simple sheet pan dinners.

We are excited to announce our 30.00 EBT match program continues into 2022! This is a great opportunity for SNAP recipients to stretch dollars with greater access to local foods. Just stop by the Info Booth and we will run your card so you can shop!

We have a robust vendor lineup this Saturday so make sure you read our list of those attending down below. Plus, bring an appetite because we have some wonderful hot food vendors on Saturday offering plant-based options, as well.

We are excited to welcome you back to the market! Find us from 10-2 at 2051 Kaen Rd (corner of Beavercreek and Kaen Roads) right here in Oregon City.

See you Saturday!

Talk about a protein packed meal! This is the perfect season to create grain and/or green bowls. With some quick prep ahead, you can assemble one of these nutrient powerhouse bowls in no time.

This week we’re taking inspiration from cookbook author, Jessica Merchant. Her latest cookbook, Everyday Dinners, offers some delicious flavor combos that will elevate boring meals into something you can look forward to.

The Grain Bowl Formula:

I cup of your favorite cooked grain, such as rice, couscous, quinoa, etc.) or beans (Wild Roots and Brown Bottle Farm have their own dried bean varieties!)

1-2 cups chopped roasted veggies, such as carrots, beets, potatoes, kale, onions, etc. (choose a large variety from any of our farms)

3 tablespoons chopped nuts or seeds (check out Squirrelly Janes or 29 Kettles for freshly roasted nuts)

1-2 ounces of grated cheese, if desired (or cheese curds from Lady Lane)

3-4 tablespoons of your favorite dressing or sauce (highly recommend Sidekick Provisions almond dips or That’s Good Garlic’s garlic sauce)

In a large bowl, toss together the grains and/or beans, veggies, nuts, and cheese, if using. Drizzle with the dressing.

10 min meal prep:
Both the grains/beans and veggies can be prepared ahead of time and stored in fridge.
