We Are Open Feb 27th

By 25 February 2021

“A farmer has to be an optimist or they wouldn’t still be a farmer.” – Will Rogers

It’s been a harder year than usual to be a farmer. Our latest storm tore through farms causing long term power outages, damaged greenhouses, broken fencing and extensive tree loss. Our farms are in the process of lots of repairs, yet all are planning to attend market on Saturday!

In addition, we had to cancel our Feb 13th market due to the ice. This caused a significant income loss for our vendors. We are excited to return to market and would love to have your support for all of our growers, makers and artisans.

Check out what’s coming!

Sun Love is bringing Collard Greens, Salad Turnips, Miner’s Lettuce and more.

This weekend will be Amica Farms last market of the season.
Here is your last chance to purchase German Butterball potatoes, lettuce mixes, kale, chicories, winter squash, arugula and herbs.

Sandy Bluff is back with lots of fresh eggs and greens

Plan to sign up for a farm share with Brown Bottle Farms. Anna will be here with all the info!

RJ Farms will be back with beets, onions and potatoes!

Looking for some nutrient dense additions to your meals? Mulino Microgreens will be fully stocked.

Mindful Mushrooms is STILL without power but are bringing some Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms plus a limited supply of Lion’s Mane.

Fisher Ridge Farm is keeping their meat frozen with the use of generators. Their power is a long way from being restored. Now would be a great time to purchase extra meat in order to offset the immense pressure and expense that comes from operating several generators at one time. One thought is to make a group purchase and share between several families.

Campfire Farms let me know that they will have a bunch of sausages for easy week night meals. After this latest storm some comfort food is in order so think about using some of their sausage in a hearty lasagna!

We have over 50 vendors attending this week, plus some new and returning vendors. Read on for our full lineup!

We appreciate your support for our market and vendors!

See you Saturday from 10-2pm!

It’s CSA Week!

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSA farms offer an opportunity for you to support a local farm and also reap the benefits of that farm’s harvest. You buy a share – essentially a membership or subscription for the growing season of that year.

Community Supported Agriculture came into existence by Dr. Booker T. Whately, a Black author, horticulturist and professor at Tuskegee University.

“Dr. Whately grew up watching Black farms disappear. He believed in regenerating not just soil, but also the livelihoods of Black farmers. He embraced the notion of direct marketing and created Clientele Membership Clubs, the forerunners of the CSA, to enable the farmer to plan production, anticipate demand, and have a guaranteed market.”

We encourage you to come out and speak with our farmers about farm shares. All of our farms currently offer CSA programs. It’s a great way to sustain a farm year round!

Please welcome our newest vendor, 2 Angry Cats!

“We are a small batch, Veteran, and POC owned Hot Sauce company that buys its peppers from local farms to help support and bring out the local flavor. Our sauces are gluten free, Vegan, no added sugars, and natural ingredients to give that fresh farm to bottle taste. By using no dyes we allow the natural color of the ingredients to present themselves!”

2 Angry Cats bottles several varieties, including their Peping Sauce which contains habaneros, mango, papaya and ginger for a sweet and spicy sauce!
