Shop the Market for gifts….and food!
The act of celebrating the Holidays, of getting together with family and friends, exchanging gifts and sharing good food should surely include a trip or two to the Farmers Market! This week you can reserve your holiday meats with Campfire Farm who are bringing pork, duck, chicken (plus a few hams) https://www.campfirefarms.com/, and Fisher Ridge Farm still have whole turkeys (17-22lbs) and halves (12-13lbs), plus chicken, pork, lamb and beef. We’ll have plenty of delicious locally-grown produce and farm eggs. Coyote Ridge Farm is out until next spring and Farm D’Ici is taking this week off but we are delighted to welcome Amica Farms! The product of two female friends who have “forged a bond through hard work, sweat equity and a deep love of agriculture and community”. Their farm is part of the Headwaters Farm Incubator Program Irina and Nicki grow a wide variety of heirloom and unusual vegetables as well as the culinary staples we all rely upon. Let’s give them a warm welcome to OCFM!
Pick up extra veggies this week and make this rustic roasted vegetable soup. Recipes are just a guide. You can use all kinds of veggies, it’s the roasting before hand that brings out the flavor. This recipe uses milk, but broth or stock would work just as well…and then may be dollop of cream or a slug of milk, wine too. https://www.kitchentreaty.com/roasted-winter-vegetable-chowder/
Our wonderful sponsors Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District reminded us that today is World Soil Day. Human health is directly related to soil health so we salute our small famers who are growing without the use of synthetic chemicals, and who replenish their soils to grow us the best tasting and most nutritious foods. Plus using organic and regenerative farming methods helps combat climate change. Want to give the gift of health and deliciousness? Purchase $5 wooden market tokens at the Information Booth for a gift that keeps on giving..afterall everyone eats! Cash and credit cards are accepted.
