Shop for the Super Bowl!

By 31 January 2020

Yes , yet another wet market this winter season, but Double Jump Coffee will warm you up and we’ll all be set up and happy to see you! Whether you are serving nachos, pulled pork sliders, pigs in a blanket or just plain dips and chips on Sunday the Market has ingredients for you! Picasso Portland Picante has salsa that is a mix of Mexican and Mediterranean flavors infused with sea salt, toasted black pepper, and fresh lime juice. On the spicy side it’s totally delicious as is their form of “hummus” laced with cilantro, Tahini, lime, jalapeno and garlic for something fresh and tasty. The Hummus Stop will have their signature flavors, plus Tzatziki, a refreshing dip/salad with yogurt, mint, cucumber and garlic. Don’t forget our hot food vendors Bama’s BBQ and Sara’s Tamales have food to re-heat for Sunday also.  Celebrate your team’s win with local wines from Forest Edge Vineyards or hard cider from Stone Circle Cider.

We welcome a new vendor Quiche Me If You Can! Take home a fully-cooked quiche (small and large) to warm up in the oven. Christa makes vegetarian quiches (made fresh the morning of market) using local ingredients. She produces a seasonal menu and right now you’ll find quiches made using roasted butternut squash, fresh sage, caramelized onions, goat cheese, sharp cheddar and Gruyere or with locally cultivated shiitake mushrooms, garlic, kale, red onion, sharp cheddar and Gruyere and possibly roasted red bell peppers, bacon (the tempeh variety), sharp white cheddar and cream cheese . All quiches are baked with her signature “everything” crust which contains toasted sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, onion, and sea salt. Sound good? Pick some up for this weekend or to freeze for the week ahead.

We’ll have plenty of meat for roasting, braising or Insta Potting! Fisher Ridge Farm has the first of the year lamb in many cuts. You can even make up a bulk box. They still have turkey, both whole and in halves, and plenty of beef cuts too. Campfire Farm’s pork slow roasted is such a treat as are their sausages. They are offering 15% off Chorizo, shoulder roasts of pork and chicken wings. Remember to bring your bags, or pick up a large,  insulated, zippered official Market Shopping Bag ($6) at the Info Booth. They have removable plastic bottom liners so anything spilt can be cleaned up.

Last market for a while for Brown Bottle Farms ferments..stock up!

We’ll have some produce and eggs, but very limited this week due to farms taking a break. So get there earlier rather than later tomorrow. It’s the last week for a while for Brown Bottle Farm’s ferments so stock up. Sun Love Farm is out this market, back next, on Feb. 15th . Joining us then will be Back to Broth, another new vendor and a new produce farm too!

Stillweather Spirits were coming but are instead supporting their friends at Trail Distilling who have suffered an unimaginable loss this week. Sara and Jerry lost their 16yr old son in a car crash on Wednesday. Charlie was driving to school when it happened. Because of his private battle with Crohn’s Disease, donations in Charlies memory can be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. If you would like to sign a card come to the Info Booth. Our hearts go out to them both and their family.
