Red, White And Blueberries

Come out and support local farms this Saturday.

Once again, our community displayed it’s support and resilience last weekend as we adjusted our market hours due to the heat. Our thanks to all who came early, shopped our vendors and still made the market a priority despite record breaking temperatures.

As we enter into the full season of summer, we are anticipating higher than normal heat forecasts. This may require adjusting market hours on occasion in order to keep you, our vendors and our staff safe. We will make sure to notify you ahead of time and keep you updated if the weather looks unfavorable. Our plan will be to open earlier in order to close earlier so you still have ample shopping opportunity.

You can find loads of berries this Saturday just in time for the 4th! Blueberries are here in addition to Raspberries, Blackberries and maybe some Loganberries. Marionberries will be here soon, as well. Cherries are at their peak and Pheasant’s Eye out of Parkdale has some delicious varieties. In addition, RJ Farms plan to bring their sweet Bings we all know and love. Kiyokawa Orchards will be making their season debut, crop depending, on July 10th.

Did you see the first harvest of squash last week? If you haven’t make sure to check Sun Love and Farm D’ICI for tender zucchinis and patty pan varieties. They’re delicious! If you love potato salad you will find some freshly harvested Red and Yukon Golds available at their booths, as well.

Farm D’ICI brought 30 lbs of cucumbers last Saturday and they sold within a half hour! More will be on the way.
Coyote Ridge has super sweet carrots that are absolutely delicious and Brown Bottle has fresh batches of their Sauerkraut! Great for piling on some of Campfire Farms sausages.

If you crave something sweet and don’t feel like turning on the oven, The Pie Guy will have plenty of fresh fruit and cream pies for your holiday celebration, plus Monica from The Pastry Smith will have a lineup of baked goods, celebrating Oregon’s fresh berries. Don’t forget ice cream from Lady Lane Dairy!

Both Campfire and Fisher Ridge farms have you covered for or all your grilling options! Both farms are bringing stocked coolers.

If you’ve been missing Westward Whiskey, we have good news. They’re back this weekend, in addition to 503 Distilling for canned cocktails, Wild Roots Spirits with berry infused vodkas and Viola Orchards with locally crafted hard cider from Estacada. Forest Edge Vineyard will have crisp and refreshing Rose!

We hope you will visit us at 2051 Kaen Rd (at the corner of Beavercreek and Kaen Rds) this Saturday from 9-2pm.

This week we’re talking all things sauce. If you’re preparing some festive BBQ or picnic fare, consider elevating those flavors with some unique and delicious new options.

Translating to “Little Girl” in Laotian, Sao Noi produces savory SE Asian – inspired sauces using family recipes. Celebrating the flavors of their country, this women owned, family business handcrafts small batches of Peanut Sauces and Chili Oils. All vegan and gluten free!

Drizzle over summery cold noodle salads, grilled veggies, on sandwiches, in dips or as a marinade for meat and tofu.

2 Angry Cats is back at the market this weekend and you won’t want to miss their hot sauces in a variety of delicious flavors. Veteran and Filipino owned, 2 Angry Cats uses all locally grown farm produce in their sauces to create a fresh flavor profile. Fantastic on grilled meats, fish, plant proteins, tacos and more.
Elsy Dinvil of Creole Me Up creates Haitian condiments inspired from her hometown of Jeremie, Haiti. Known as Pickliz (pronounced as pick-lees), this spicy cabbage, carrot and chile-laced pickle is traditionally served with meats and fried foods.
Pikliz possesses a wonderful and bright zippy taste that livens up a dish and balances flavor. Use it over noodles, piled on sausages off the grill or alongside your condiment bar at your BBQ.
Depending on your preference, Creole Me Up offers Pickliz in mild to spicy flavors. Make sure to check out Elsy’s line of Creole Marinades as well which is an excellent way to flavor veggies and meats.
