Pumpkins, winter squash, cider!
That says it all…fall is here! With the change of weather comes the change of produce, and that’s what makes shopping at Farmers Markets so much fun, you can find new products each week, taste old favorites through the seasons, and never get tired of the same old meals!
Let the market inspire you this week, come with your empty bags and find some goodies for your tables. Need ideas? Stop by Pappardelles Pasta, they have some wonderful recipes to go with EVERY type of pasta (including gluten-free) and they have a great variety. Leone’s farm has lovely pumpkins, Family Table Farm has winter squash, Gardenripe Farm has tomatoes for sauce and plenty of melons too. Apples, cider, grapes, pears, kiwis…all a sure sign the season has changed and this Saturday the kid’s (at the POP Club Fun Booth) will be tasting apples from the farmers tables and making buttons of their favorite! They can stop by the POP Club booth and collect their $2 in wooden tokens to shop for fresh produce too! This week Kasey’s Kreations will have the first pumpkin spice cupcakes mmmmm! Plus pies (some sugar-free) and also Gluten free carrot cake cupcakes AND some gluten free pies…these go quick, so come early!
Curds on the Way (http://curdsontheway.com/) are back with a tasting of their sourdough bread…made from one of their bread kits. Gail will also have a taste of her German cheese cake made with their ricotta cheese kit. You can make bread, cheese, yogurt, vinegar…all from their kits, or sign up for a class with Gayle in her commercial kitchen. When not at the Market she does in-store demos for Wholefoods, so catch her when you can at the market and get her extensive knowledge on all things preserved and home-made! Their kits make wonderful, useful and yet unusual gifts…and THAT time is fast approaching:)
