Plant Based Goodness

By 9 June 2021

This week we’re talking about all things Plant Based.
The market is an obvious source for plant based food but did you know we also offer a variety of plant based prepared foods to meet dietary preferences and needs? Read on for some of our wonderful options designed for those who have adopted vegan, vegetarian and dairy free lifestyles.

Carl from CH Woodcraft is back this week! Make sure to check out his beautiful handcrafted cooking supplies and cutting boards. Carl’s work is in high demand given his attention to detail and intricate work. When you purchase one of his items, know you are buying the highest of quality.

Fat Dutch Bread is launching their new line of Gluten Free artisan breads. This week you can enjoy one of their most popular flavors, Rosemary Roasted Garlic in a Gluten Free option!

Berries are abounding with plenty of strawberry varieties, ranging from Hoods and Shuksans to Queen Mary’s and Albions. Now is the time to make jam to enjoy in our cold winter months.

We are respectfully asking our customers to continue wearing masks while in the market. Many of our vendors, staff and volunteers still haven’t finished their vaccinations. We look forward to mask free days, but for now thank you for your consideration.

Join us at 2051 Kaen Rd (corner of Beavercreek and Kaen Rds) in Oregon City every Saturday from 9-2!

See you at the market!

If you’re looking for options to meet specific dietary preferences, the market is your perfect stopping point.
In addition to all the fresh fruit and produce your heart desires, we also offer a large variety of foods that can satisfy the tastebuds of many who might be missing comfort classics.

First up is Mundus Foods, a plant based creamery. Mundus is women owned and specialize in cream cheeses, whipped cream, sour cream and ranch dressings. Normally all are chock full of dairy which can prove to be an issue for the lactose intolerant or vegan diets but Mundus Foods incorporates nuts to create the most delicious flavors and choices. Even the most dairy loving folks admit their options are creamy and and full of rich flavor.

Sidekick Provisions offer fresh almond based dips in flavors such as Garlic Citrus Herb and Smokey Chipotle. Dips are naturally vegan and gluten free and complement so many dishes such as grain bowls, sandwiches, pastas and of course, all on it’s own.

Both Soupernatural PDX and Queen Chili offer vegetarian and vegan soup and chili options – plus they freeze great! Make sure to check Souper’s seasonal favorite, Roasted Asparagus soup.

Sinful Creations is a vegan, gluten and allergy free bakery. Serving everything from whoopie pies to cupcakes, customers can enjoy favorite baked goods without the presence of compromising ingredients.
2 Sisters Bakery and South Barlow Pretzels both strictly bake vegan pastries.

Of course, most of our prepared foods are naturally vegan, vegetarian and/or gluten free. Everything from pickled veggies from Pam’s Pickled Products to fresh hummus varieties thanks to The Hummus Stop and Roundhouse Foods. Enjoy spicy and delicious sauces from 2 Angry Cats, Picasso’s, Sao Noi Peanut Sauce, Felton and Mary’s BBQ Sauce, Creole Me Up and That’s Good Garlic.

Even the most decadent chocolate treats are available as plant based. Check out Goddess Mousse for delicious varieties of chocolate mousse! Plus, our newest handcrafted chocolatier is coming soon, Retreat PDX. Both are completely plant based and provide healthy vitamins and minerals with a very low sugar index. Both Goddess Mousse and ReTreat PDX will be at the market on June 19th!

We are excited to welcome our newest vendor, Straightaway Cocktails!

Cy and Casey craft ready to pour bottled “astonishing cocktails”

Paying homage to their Milton-Freewater, Oregon roots, Straightaway embraces fresh botanicals and floral notes specific to Eastern Oregon’s region.

Enjoy freshly juiced citrus varieties, brewed in house bitters and made from scratch simple syrup. Choose from the classics such as Margaritas, Oregon Old Fashioned, Cosmos, and Lemon Drops, just to name a few. Can’t decide which beverage to try? Pick up a sampler pack and sample them all!

In addition, Straightaway Cocktails has donated 1300 gallons of hand sanitizer to areas of public need, including the Oregon Food Bank.

Straightaway will be here for a very selected amount of Saturdays so make sure you check them out this week at the market.
