Memorial Weekend at the Market

By 25 May 2023

Each week the colors at the market are becoming more vibrant!

Peonies are in season and the market is boasting rich color and variety. Make sure to pick up a bouquet from our flower vendors, such as Holley’s FlowersHill Tree Garden and Lee J Gardens.

The Sugar Snap Peas sold out in minutes last Saturday! Rest assured, plenty more are coming. This cooler weather lends to productive crops. Sugar Snap Peas offer a glimpse of good things to come. Crunchy, sweet and for most, best eaten raw, peas serve as a great reminder that spring is here.

We will continue to see more carrots, beets, spring onions, beautiful mixed greens, cauliflower, asparagus, radishes and more popping up in farmer’s stalls. It’s officially time to get those warm weather crops in so make sure to visit Maggy’s Farm and Sun Love Farm for Certified Naturally Grown veggie plant starts!

This week our Power of Produce kids will be making their own trail mix, perfect for healthy snacking and taking along on outdoor adventures. Kids will have the opportunity to create their own mix from a large variety of ingredients! If you haven’t done so, make sure to sign up your kiddos ages 5-12 at our POP booth this week.

We have some new and returning vendors this week, in addition to a new hot food vendor! Make sure you read on for our market updates and details.

You can find us at 2051 Kaen Road (corner of Kaen and Beavercreek Roads) here in Oregon City from 9-2.

See you there!

A 3-day weekend AND a nice forecast means it’s a perfect time to grill outside. Campfire FarmsMartson Farm and Don Felipe Chorizo offer the best reasons to heat up the grill. Find steaks from Martson Farm or grilling sausages from Campfire and don’t forget their bacon for a leisurely weekend breakfast.

If you prefer grilling veggies, you will find perfect spring produce that offer amazing flavor with minimal prep required. Asparagus, spring onions, carrots, beets, bok choy, leeks, radishes, turnips and mushrooms are fantastic options. Plus, they grill up quickly and bring out a smoky flavor that pairs well with tofu from Bean Bar or plant-based Chorizo from Don Felipe.

Don’t forget dessert! Pick up cookies from Sinful ConfectionsThe PastrySmith or Small Baking, ice cream from Lady Lane Dairy and decadent Pistachio Cream from Chio PDX
