This Saturday’s Seed Swap and Market!

Hello Market Friends,

Spring is just around the corner, and we’re kicking off the season with one of our favorite community traditions. In addition to the market, our annual Seed Swap is happening this Saturday! Whether you’re a seasoned gardener, a curious beginner, or simply someone who loves the magic of growing things, this is a perfect chance to gather, share, and dream up your garden plans for the year.

How it Works: Bring your labeled seeds you’ve saved, extras from last year’s packets, or simply come empty‑handed, everyone is welcome. We’ll have tables set up for vegetables, herbs, and flowers so you can browse and trade easily. We are in need of seed donations for swapping so if you have extra, plan to bring them.

This Saturday’s market will also feature local artisans whose work is inspired by the garden. Expect botanical prints, plant‑dyed textiles, handmade pottery, garden markers, mason bees AND handcrafted cocoons, birdfeeders, natural body care (don’t forget sunscreen from Landia Skincare!) and other creations that celebrate the beauty of growing things. It’s a wonderful chance to support local makers while finding something special for your home or garden. We’re also excited to welcome Soul Flags Art, a local non-profit Art Center here in Oregon City.

Maggy’s Farm, Wiggle Way Farm, Earthly Harvest Farm, Sun Love Farm and Earthly Harvest Farm will have spring plant starts for sale! Plus, are you frustrated with slugs eating all of your plants? This year we’ve brought in local business, The Oregon Slug Trap, to help with a safe, inexpensive and chemical free option for taking care of unwanted slugs in your garden. RJ Farms is selling high quality, upcycled garden tools for all your gardening projects so make sure to check out their display each week.

Even with all the seed‑swap excitement, the market will still be fully stocked with fresh food and farm‑direct groceries. You’ll find seasonal produce, eggs, baked goods, pantry staples, and all your favorite weekly vendors. It’s the perfect time to pick up ingredients for weekend meals while planning what you’ll grow this year.

Find us this Saturday from 10am-2pm at Clackamas Community College’s GREEN LOT 1 here in Oregon City.

See you at the market!

Vendor Spotlight: Maggy’s Farm

We’re excited to welcome Maggy’s Farm back for spring planting season this Saturday. They are a small but mighty grower known for their commitment to truly sustainable farming. Everything Maggy’s Farm produces is grown without chemicals, synthetic fertilizers, or pesticides, making their food as clean and natural as it gets.

Maggy’s Farm focuses on building healthy soil, supporting pollinators, and working in harmony with the land. Their sustainable methods mean stronger plants, richer flavor, and a healthier ecosystem. all while keeping their footprint light.

Choose from a great selection of hardened‑off food plants that are ready to go straight into your garden. You can look forward to lettuce, peas, cauliflower, broccoli, collards, cabbage, kohlrabi, plus a variety of edible gallon‑size perennials.

It’s still too early in the season for the 70+ varieties of tomatoes and all those summer veggie starts, but you can jump‑start your garden with some truly amazing spring produce plants.

🐝 Mason Bees at the Market This Saturday!
Mason bees are some of the gentlest, hardest‑working pollinators you can bring into your garden. Unlike honeybees, they don’t live in hives. Instead, they nest in small tubes or holes and spend their days visiting flowers, boosting pollination for fruits, veggies, and ornamentals. They’re incredibly efficient too: one mason bee can pollinate as much as 100 honeybees thanks to their messy, pollen‑dusting style of foraging.

They’re also perfect for backyard gardeners because:

•     They don’t sting unless seriously threatened
•     They’re non‑aggressive and safe around kids and pets
•     They’re active early in spring when many plants need them most
•     They’re easy to care for — just provide a bee house and some blooms

And the best part: You can get your own mason bees at the market this Saturday!
Mason bee extraordinaire, Andrew Goldsmith, will have bee cocoons and simple starter kits available, along with resources about how to set them up and keep them thriving.

Martin of Moravian Wood Craft will also have handcrafted Mason Bee houses at his booth so if you’re looking for high quality ‘lodging’ for your bees, make sure to check them out.

If you’ve been curious about adding pollinators to your garden, this is a great chance to start the season with some tiny but mighty helpers.
