It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Tomato Season

By 29 July 2021

Due to the hot forecast our market hours will be 9-1pm this Saturday. We will be closing 1 hour early.

The safety of our vendors, customers and staff remain our priority and the heat can takes its toll at our market site. We appreciate your understanding and support!

This week we will have beautiful peaches, berries, squash, tomatoes, greens, nectarines, radishes, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, cabbages and so much more. Our farms are in that sweet spot of harvest and as customers, we are getting spoiled by all the variety and delicious flavors available.

RJ Farms is enjoying another week of much deserved vacation time. They will return on August 7th! Coyote Ridge Farm is taking a break in between harvest as well and will also return on the 7th.

Stop by our POP booth with your kiddos ages 5-12 to sign passports, pick up a market activity and tokens for fresh produce!

We are excited to welcome live music from Urban Prairie. Grab some lunch and enjoy the music in our dining/music area!

You can find us this Saturday from 9-1 at 2051 Kaen Rd (at the corner of Beavercreek and Kaen Rds) here in Oregon City.

See you at the market!

We had the opportunity to chat with Ryan from Brown Bottle Farm about the latest addition to their tomato family.

The size of these tomatoes makes you look twice! Known as Vernazza tomatoes, these beauties originated from the village of Vernazza in Italy. An innkeeper and gardener shared some with seeds with a friend from Uprising Seeds during a visit in 2017. Uprising Seeds planted them a few years back at their home farm. They took off with gusto and Brown Bottle Farms had the pleasure in growing some of their own, with much success.

An excellent slicer, Vernazza tomatoes offer a thick, very fleshy interior and possess delicious flavor. A fun side note, they contain very few seeds!

Thank you Brown Bottle Farm for sharing your abundant produce with our community!

This week we’re excited to welcome a non profit community group known as the LoveOne Community, an organization that provides showers and hygiene care to houseless folks in Oregon City, Milwaukie and Clackamas. Using a mobile shower cart, graciously granted from The Rotary Club of Oregon City, LoveOne sets up their mobile cart at various locations as a resource for hygiene and wellness.

This Saturday their mobile shower cart will be on display to provide a greater look into the important work they are doing to restore dignity and hygiene health to the houseless community.
