Holiday Pre-Orders!

By 14 October 2021

With the changing of seasons our thoughts turn to the holidays!

We are grateful to be one of the few year round farmers markets in Oregon. While the weather can be daunting at times, we are excited to have vendors show up with fresh food for our community.

This week we have the privilege of welcoming Wild Roots Farm to our market family. Get ready for a robust assortment of veggie varieties all winter long.

Campfire Farms and Fisher Ridge are starting to take holiday pre-orders and our artisans are making their way back to the market with items perfect for gift giving.

We only have 3 remaining weeks of summer season before we transition to our winter market, beginning on November 6th. Remember our schedule changes a bit. We will open at 10am instead of 9 and we will operate every other week until the end of April.
Stop by the info booth for a handy bookmark of dates so you don’t forget our market dates.

We will be offering a Fill Your Pantry stock up market, plus a harvest and holiday market. It’s going to be a great market season!

Speaking of pre-orders, check in with your bakeries. Vendors such as The Pie Guy and Small Baking Company are releasing seasonal menu and ordering opportunities.

This week we will see some hardy greens, including flavorful Chicory and Radicchio varietals. Brussel Sprouts, Napa cabbage and root veggies are taking center stage in addition to remaining peppers and summer squash. We have lots of unique pumpkins, thanks to Bittersweet Springs and we anticipate some from Wild Roots as well.

Kiyokawa Farms will join us through at least the end of November and they have a tremendous variety of apples and pears. Not sure which are best for fresh eating vs baking? Claire and Danielle are happy to assist you in which varieties are best.

As we shift into the remaining weeks of summer market, you will notice many vendors finishing up their season before going on winter hiatus. We are excited to welcome a whole new group of vendors that will be joining us. We will be announcing our full lineup in the coming weeks so stay tuned!

SNAP and Pandemic EBT recipients can take advantage of our 30.00 match through at least the end of the year. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase in bulk and stock up on favorites. Not only does it increase food security for families, it supports our local farms and small businesses. Stop by the info booth to get started!

Live music from The Steve and Margot show will be here this Saturday. A market favorite, their music appeals to all ages, even taking special music requests from their music menu!

Per the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon’s Department of Agriculture, masks are still required at farmers markets. If you forget yours, we have some at our information booth. We appreciate your compliance in order to remain open to the public.

Find us from 9-2 at 2051 Kaen Rd (corner of Beavercreek and Kaen Roads) here in Oregon City.

See you at the market!

It’s always exciting to add a farm to our market family, especially when it’s a farm like Wild Roots. Mary and Brian farm in Estacada on the ancestral lands of the Chinookian indigenous peoples. Mary and Brian, in addition to an extremely talented team, farm 200+ varieties of veggies and herbs!

‘We are committed to growing diverse and unique crops following organic practices, aiming for the most flavorful and nutrient-dense end-product. We prioritize environmental health by using minimal tillage methods to foster living soils, creating thriving habitats for pollinator communities, and strive to strike a balance between human-scale, hand work and some mechanization.’

We encourage to read more on Wild Root’s values and farming principles by visiting their website Wild Roots Farm, PDX, OR – Home (wildrootsnw.com)

Make sure to stop by their double booth this Saturday, welcome them to the market and purchase their amazing produce!

It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays and for many, that means celebrating with meals amongst family and friends.

Campfire Farms has hams, turkeys, ducks and geese available for the holidays. All of their animals are raised on pasture, given an excellent quality of life, and raised on a no corn, no soy feed.

Preorder turkeys through our website or email christina@campfirefarms.com.
