Grilled Peaches!

By 25 July 2019

Peaches… drippy-sweet and grilled for a change are featured in the Market Kitchen this week. Chef Deborah is preparing a grilled peach salad, stop by for a taste and pick up a recipe! As well as peaches we still have a good selection of cherries, it’s the last weekend for pie cherries though. With all this fruit available right now follow this recipe and make a ‘cookie for breakfast’!  https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2019/05/jammy-fruit-bars.html Green beans are plentiful too and this recipe will make them into something very different! https://smittenkitchen.com/2015/07/green-beans-with-almond-pesto/ Try using Squirrelly Jane’s hazelnuts instead of almonds for a NW twist.

Our wonderful chocolatier Sacred Summit also makes Jun. This is a fermented, naturally carbonated beverage brewed with tea, raw honey, and a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. They use raw local honey from ethical beekeepers as well as source organic teas from local and fair-trade vendors. Delicious cold on a hot day and so healthful!

Fisher Ridge Farm (pastured meats) are back this Saturday, so are Thrive Sauces, Grano Bakery, Trail Distilling, Tighty Whitey soaps and candles, CH Wood Products, Wandering Duck Fruit Wines and Pet Wants. Out is Sun Love Farm (yup they are gettin’ hitched!), Belamy Leather (back in August), Campfire Farms (back next Sat) and S&K Nursery are out now until next spring. The POP Club kids are grinding wheat berries and eating pancakes from the flour they grind:) The ever popular duo, the Steve and Margot Show, are entertaining us and the weather looks just about perfect!

Most market’s have a chef’s demo now and again, OC Market has one every summer market day. Come and get inspired!

Bring your coolers, tell the neighbors and enjoy a summer morning at the Market!
