Father’s Day Gift Guide

By 17 June 2020

This weekend we are honoring Dads and the special people in our life that are like a father to us. Let’s not forget those that taken over the role of both Mom AND Dad, as well. We celebrate all of you!

With the weekend shaping up to (finally) be warm and sunny, the farmers market is a great place to get the celebration started. We have so many options! Anything from delicious ingredients for grilling outside to men’s hygiene products, to gift packs created by our breweries and distilleries, and more!

BBQ is synonymous with Father’s Day so how about preparing a special dinner? The market literally has all the ingredients to do it.

Start with some pork chops to grill from Campfire Farms or ground beef from Lady Lane Farms for burgers (don’t forget cheese from By George to melt on that burger!) For a non meat option, Mindful Mushrooms has delicious varieties that sing with flavor when grilled.

Roast some asparagus from Pheasant’s Eye farm – toss with olive oil, Spice Pilgrim’s Himalayan salt, pepper and fresh garlic from Sandy Bluff Farm. Roast at 400 until tender and a little bit ‘charred’ around the edges

Pick up some freshly harvested potatoes from Farm D’ICI, Sun Love, RJ’s or Brown Bottle to make a potato salad. Bon Appetit’s State Fair Potato Salad is a fantastic recipe.

Don’t forget dessert. How about a delicious slice of pie from The Pie Guy (pre-orders highly encouraged) or strawberries with freshly whipped cream from Lady Lane Farms?

We have some great options for an epic cocktail hour. Stillweather Spirits locally distills West Coast and American Gins. Father’s Day gift packs will be available with all the ingredients to make your own G&Ts!

Trail Distilling will be offering a 3 Pack Gift Box for Father’s Day with their award winning Whiskey, Gin and Vodka. Check out this recipe for a Basil Smash Cocktail!

Just in time for Father’s Day, Forest Edge Vineyards is celebrating two new releases!

New summer releases include their Sparkling Hard Apple Cider and Barrel Aged Pinot Noir Rosé. Both go great with BBQ. Forest Edge’s tasting room will be open with seating with a view of the vineyard. Complimentary tasting flights. Can bring own food and buy a glass of wine to relax for a while. Treat dad to a special day out! Jan will also be offering tastings at the market this weekend!

Coin Toss Brewing will be serving samples of their IPAs, Lagers and Ales this weekend. Plus Tim and team have put together some Father’s Day gift packs featuring a variety of their local brews. This will be their second week at our market so make sure to stop by and sample some incredible beers.

Landia Skincare launched their Men’s Line in 2018 after learning that many of their female customers were sharing their CocoRose Face Creme with the men in their lives! So co-founder Bill Grady, set about developing a shave creme and beard & hair oil to compliment the coveted face creme, adding complex, masculine scents. All of Landia’s personal care products are 100% plant and mineral based using wildcrafted, organic and locally sourced ingredients, scented with essential oils. The entire men’s line (and starter sets) will be available at market this weekend along with Landia’s entire collection. Stop by their booth on Saturday- Erin would be happy to help you with samples!

For the coffee loving dad in your life, look no further than Double Jump Coffee.
This weekend Double Jump will be resuming their coffee service, plus selling their beans and teas.
Menu includes:
Cold Brew Coffee served over coffee ice cubes
Single origin pour overs by the cup
Hot AND Iced Mochas
Sun Tea
Sun Sweet Tea (with tea ice cubes)
Bagged Coffees – Freshly roasted single origin coffee beans – whole and ground
(if using the app for pre-orders, one can select preferred grind by indicating in the comment box of the app)
Single Origin Fine Teas
“We are family owned and run. I only source coffee directly from the farmer or through trusted small traders who build personal relationships with the farmers. This makes certain that the farmers receive a fair price for their crop. In addition the lasting relationship creates a dependable income and creates an opportunity for increasing improvements in the coffee, because the farmers get feedback year after year and receive help in building infrastructure, like building raised drying beds or healthcare for the village.”
Another great gift idea is bringing Dad’s tools, knives or implements to Bob from As Iron Sharpens Iron. Bob sharpens tools on site at the market while you shop. He even does delivery. Now there won’t be any excuses to get projects done. It’s a win win.
