7 Veggies You Need to Purchase this Saturday

By 18 May 2023

What’s In Season?

We’re still a couple weeks from strawberries, according to our farmers. In the meantime, we’re sharing what’s in season at the market and the 6 veggies you need add to your shopping bag.

Plus, our market is growing with both new and returning vendors to the market:

Wild Roots Farm is back for the season! Mary and Brian grow mixed veggie varietals, sell at some of Portland’s amazing restaurants such as Cafe Olli and offer a robust CSA program for folks who want to purchase weekly veggie boxes.

It’s been a while, but Bearded Oregon is here this Saturday as a POP-UP Vendor. Aaron creates locally infused beard and body products named after popular Oregon destinations. Bearded Oregon isn’t here routinely so this is the weekend to stock up and plan for Father’s Day!

Steward’s Valley Farm joins us this Saturday, kicking off their summer market season. Located in Oregon City, Kailin and Taylor’s mission is ‘to ensure our local community has access to and education about the freshest vegetables of the season.’
Farming a lot with a little, Steward’s began farming in 2020 on an underutilized 1/4-acre lot in Oregon City with a focus on growing hyper seasonal, unique vegetables.

This week our POP Club will be planting wildflowers and sunflowers. Kiddos from ages 5-12 can join in a fun, interactive seeding project. Kids get to plant at the market, take home and then transplant once they’ve sprouted. We provide all the supplies. Make sure to sign your kids up for our summer passport too!

Don’t forget SNAP-EBT and P-EBT recipients can receive up to a 20.00 produce match per market day. Stop by the information booth for details!

Join us this Saturday from 9-2. We’re located at 2051 Kaen Road (corner of Kaen and Beavercreek Roads) here in Oregon City.

See you at the market!

Our farms have some amazing spring produce right now. Here are (at least) 7 veggies you need stock up on this Saturday!

Rhubarb – RJ Farms
Sugar Snap Peas – Sun Love Farm
Cabbage Rapini – Canby Farm and Kitchen
Mixed Lettuce Greens – Farm D’ICI

Cardoons – (A southern European plant related to the globe artichoke, with leaves and roots that may be used as vegetables!) Canby Farm and Kitchen
Harukei Turnips – Sun Love Farm

And, of course, don’t forget carrots, radishes, mixed greens and beets from Wild Roots and Steward Family Farm!

New Vendor Highlight!

Welcome Simply Sol! Logan and Travis tend 25 acres of land in Molalla, growing Oregon licensed Hemp. Their vision consisted of cultivating a medicinal, educational and truly sustainable farm.

“We believe that an all organic, regenerative farm is the only way to ensure the highest quality medicines and a healthier, resilient, climate overall.”

7 acres of Logan and Travis’ property include fields, greenhouses and indoor growing facilities for high quality hemp cultivation. Not only can you find jarred dried hemp sold at the market, Simply Sol offers salves such as “Problem Salved” using an infusion of locally sourced, organic oils with their own homegrown organic CBD and medicinal herbs to deliver deep curing effects for muscle pain, tension, inflammation and rapid emergency relief for cramps and spasms.

Check out some of Simply Sol’s additional offerings such as their Hearty Hawthorne which is a powerful antioxidant and great for cardiovascular health, ashwagandha and Oregon Grape Root tinctures.

Find Simply Sol at the market this Saturday!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Join us July 8th at 10am!

The market is excited to welcome a special performance by Red Yarn. Andy is a brilliant, well loved family performer who weaves folksongs and puppetry into high energy shows for all ages. Red Yarn will perform from 10-10:45. Bring the whole family and kiddos for this special POP Club event!
