Can you feel the hints of fall in the mornings?

Here at Oregon City Farmers Market we are beginning to look for ways to extend our summer harvest. One way to extend your own growing season is to plant a fall garden!
The market has everything you need to get started and enjoy some fall crops.

MAGGY’S FARM will be back this weekend laden with all sorts of fall varietals to get that fall garden planted. Now is the time to start getting them in the ground. Plenty of broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, greens and herbs are available to choose from. If you’re not sure which variety to choose plan to stop by their booth and Tim can guide you to the right purchase for your garden!
Are you looking for ways to use up your supply of fresh peaches in season? Our Market Board President shared this amazing Peach Cobbler recipe from Leite’s Culinaria and it is truly the best cobbler I’ve ever tasted.
Better yet, the recipe is so incredibly simple (no peeling required) and you will be enjoying it in no time. The secret is in the hot water added at the end. I know it sounds crazy but it’s a game changer.
You can get excellent peaches from RJ Farms, Squirrelly Jane Farm, Pheasant’s Eye Farm and Albeke Farms.

Looking to preserve some of nature’s bounty? The market highly recommends a wonderful resource for all things canning and preserving related. Check out Oregon State University Extension Service’s food preservation hotline. From questions regarding calibrating your pressure cooker to freezer jam recipes, OSU Extension is here to make your efforts a safe and healthy success.
We have a wonderful program in place for SNAP Recipients. Thanks to the Farmers Market Fund AND our Metro Enhancement Grant our market can match up to 20.00 in free food tokens and Double Up Food Bucks per market visit! Now is a great time for SNAP users to take advantage of the fresh food available at the market each week. To get your tokens and coupons, just stop by the info booth at our market’s entrance!
