Winter Season Opens!
…and don’t forget we start one hour later at 10am! This month eight years ago we opened the first winter market with about 15 vendors. It was a gamble, would we get enough customers out shopping in the open air during the cold months? Well fast forward to this Saturday and I guess the gamble paid off! We open this season with 38 spaces occupied by 33 individual vendors..and more will be joining us!
Back in 2010 we had just two farmers RJ Farms from Molalla with produce and eggs and Kiyokawa Orchards from Parkdale…this season both those farms are back plus several other produce farms too. Birkeland Farms, Campfire Farms and Fisher Ridge Farm will all have a good selection of locally-pastured meats (chicken, beef, lamb and pork) and Wild Oregon is once again bringing in fresh seafood from the coast. This weeks selection includes Salmon, Rock Fish, Rex Sole, Netarts Oysters, Steamer Clams, Razor Clams and frozen Tuna. La Provence is in for the whole season with crusty breads and pastries, The Pie Guy too….if you want something special for Thanksgiving from these farmers and vendors this would be the market to place your orders.
Ole World Oils is back for the winter with locally-pressed Camelina Oil and next to them you’ll find Sacred Summit with ‘Bean to Bar’ dark chocolate, Raw Truffles, & Jun Probiotic Elixirs….all heavenly! Portland Cider is back, as is Eastside Distillery, Wandering Duck (fruit wines) ,Kings Raven Winery and Forest Edge Vineyards. For a full list of vendors please see our interactive map on the main page of the web site: orcityfarmersmarket.com.
This week: locally roasted coffee from Double Jump and hot food (Sara’s Tamales and Second Son Kimbap)…..live music by Mark Seymour. We accept Debit and SNAP, with a $10 SNAP Match. The kids POP Club will be giving kids (5-12 years) $2 every time they come to the winter market and this week we will have a scavenger hunt for them. Bring a friend, tell the neighbors…but please leave the dogs at home 🙂 The winter season runs every other Saturday, 10am-2pm, rain or shine. Pick up a schedule at the Information Booth, and don’t miss one!
