It’s going to be a beautiful day and a beautiful Market this Saturday! We are kicking off the first of the Master Gardener Workshops (30 mins) at 10am…this week it’s “Starting Your Vegetable Garden” (bring your notebooks!) …PERFECT! as we will have a great selection of plants to choose from.
50 vendors this week selling the first spring veggies , fruit and much more. We’ll have asparagus., spinach, chard, kale, collards, lovely beets, sweet sweet carrots, radishes..crisp, juicy and mild at this time of year, little cauliflowers, broccoli, shallots, green onions, onions, cauliflower, parsley, cilantro, kholrabbi, both red and white….and OREGON strawberries! Plus lots of sugar-pod peas..just right for a spring salad …in fact that’s what OSU Nutritionist Kelly Streit is making this Saturday at 11am…a delicious Spring Garden Salad…for the KIDS! They will be invited to help her chop and mix and then everyone can share a heavenly taste of spring.
And for Mothers Day…..bring her some market love! Fresh Flowers, Hanging Baskets, Cheese, Vinegar and Bread-Making Kits, Preserves (Jalepeno Jam, Lemon Curd, and some Pastries…why not?) Caramels, Soaps, Lotions, Candles, Plants for her garden, Bird Houses and Feeders, Garden Beds, Adirrondak Chairs and Benches, Bat Houses (the GREEN way to get rid of mosquitos!), Mason Bee Hives…or why not put together a Basket of Market Goodies,or purchase a Bag of Market Tokens for her (we have the bag). Sir Sharp-A-Lot suggests having all her Kitchen Knives and Garden Clippers Sharpened…but then he would!
Back in the Market this week….Papardelles Pasta..we missed them this Winter….but they will be here this Saturday with an AMAZING selection of handmade pasta! Back too is Sunset Woodworking with garden beds, chicken coops and lots of gift ideas for mom’s garden. He Sells These Shells has offered FREE Gardening Gloves when you purchase 5 bags of landscaping shells.Three Brothers will be back too with lots of blueberry, apple and fig plants and an assortment of new ones.
If you missed the new gluten-free bakery last week, Melissa with Terrapin Bakery is bringing Strawberry Lemonade cupacakes, Focaccia, & double chocolate chip cookies amongst many other items! La Provence is bringing more this week (as they keep selling out!)…and Big Foot Bread will be back up to production this week with a good selection also. Hansen Family Farms and Sweet Home Farms will have a good variety of meats..it’s BBQ time!! Yeah! Wild Oregon has checked in and they will be bringing troll-caught CHINOOK salmon, Red Snapper,Ling Cod,Shrimp and RAZOR CLAMS…nice. If you have not tried their marinated anchovies…well, you just haven’t lived:)Try some on a bed of fresh spring greens, with soft creamy chevre and just cooked baby beets with warm crusty bread!
It’s going to be HOT so make sure you taste the heavenly ORGANIC ice-cream from the Little Sweet Cart…what a treat! And for a late breakfast or lunch Savory et Sweet will be using fresh market asparagus, strawberries and rhubarb in the Saturday menu! And since the weather will be summery ~ their popular Limeade with basil-cucumber & blackberry returns! The Tamale House will have tasty Mexican food…and you can sip a cool glass of white wine while you listen to Succotash…a (market fave) 4 piece band, always fun..playing 10am-1pm.
