OK…. let’s go 2019!

By 3 January 2019

Cleansing all that ‘cheer‘ after the Holidays is what our bodies need! Well where better to buy fresh healthy foods than at the Market this Saturday, January 5th….yes we’re baaack!

33 vendors and farmers will be pleased to see you. Lot’s of delicious bitter greens to mix in a creamy dressing, sweet winter squash to roast, mushrooms to saute and apples to bake. Stock up with grass-fed beef, chicken, lamb and pork. Boil up bones for broth…and tuck a cottage pie in the freezer.  Keep it simple and wholesome and say yes to health this year.

One of the (many) reasons we love having Kiyokawa Orchards at our market is that Randy takes really good care of his workers. Several have been with him for decades and their children too now work in the Orchards.  In 2019 he plans to build new employee housing so that he can continue to provide safe and affordable housing to his amazing employees that keep the farm going. The Orchards are in the running for a grant that will help make these goals possible this year, but they need our help. Back in stock for 2019 are the popular cloth produce bags (suggested $1 donation) and we have plenty of the insulated zippered shopping bags too. Pick up a schedule (shock, horror…you don’t already have one?) and don’t miss one market this winter. We now run every other Saturday through April 27th.  If you are sorting seeds and seeing what you need to order, set some aside and mark your calendar, our annual Seed Swap is on March 30th this year.

One of our wonderful sponsors of the kid’s Power Of Produce (POP) Club is Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District. They would like you to know they have an important workshop coming up to help horse owners. Managing mud and manure correctly helps water quality and fish habitat, which ultimately helps all of us. Don’t have horses but know someone who does? Send them this link: https://conservationdistrict.org/2018/two-workshops-for-horse-owners.html

Bring a friend, tell a neighbor spread the word about the Market and our amazing farmers, see you Saturday…oh and we wish you a very Happy (Healthy) New Year!
