Winter has it’s ups and downs. The weather is often viewed as one of the downsides to the season but the upside is that it sends us indoors to the fire and the stove. Get all cozy this weekend and bake an easy fresh apple cake! Kiyokawa Orchards will have a great selection of apples and you’ll be able to taste them all. Pick up a bag and head home to whip up this simple cake, fill the house with spicy aromas! Feel free to make substitutions, like coconut oil for vegetable oil, brown sugar for white, and add more spices (ground ginger, cloves) and/or a drop of rum. If you add a drop of rum, add a bit more flour. Experiment! Bobs Red Mills 1 for 1 Gluten-Free flour works like a dream if you don’t want wheat.  http://allrecipes.com/recipe/18049/grandmas-fresh-apple-cake/

Put together a gift basket with jars of jam, lemon curd, nut butters, pickles, chili powder, coffee beans, honey, granola, Camelina oil and a cute apron or dish towel from Sew Silly. Market tokens make great gifts too. Buy $20 worth and we’ll give you a free market shopping bag and a schedule of the winter market…..everyone’s gotta eat right?! These tokens act like $5 bills and are accepted at all the vendors booths, customers who use them get cash change back.
