Easter Market….and plenty of Eggs and Ham!

By 29 March 2018

Happy hen and chicks roam free on RJ Farm!

Get your real Easter Eggs at the Market! RJ Farms will have plenty from happy pastured hens, served up grain grown on the farm, that is often fermented for them too, plus all the grass, weed seeds and bugs they can forage. Stacey raises her vast folk from chicks and gives them acres to wander and a huge hen house to come home to. Dying real eggs is fun and you can use natural dyes: https://www.mommypotamus.com/how-to-dye-easter-eggs-naturally-with-everyday-ingredients/

Fresh spring flower Easter Bouquets this week!

Fisher Ridge Farms are bringing bone-in and boneless hams from pastured pigs. The boneless hams are cured with celery seed and do not contain nitrates and Forest Edge Vineyard is suggesting one of their Chardonnays, full bodied, barrel aged, to complement your Easter Ham without overwhelming the flavor. They also say their Sparkling Hard Cider is fun to kick of the festivities (who doesn’t like bubbles?). For chocolate bunnies and Peeps, try their sweet dessert wine, Sucre Chardonnay.

Brown Bottle Farm have an inquisitive hen!

Brown Bottle Farms are bringing pickled onions, pickled fiddleheads , ground cherry syrup, tomato jam , and Smokey hot sauce. They are out foraging and may have some surprises too. RJ Farms and Sun Love Farms have lovely spring produce and Wild Oregon Seafood will have holiday specials including fresh Halibut, Petrale Sole and Crab, plus razor Clams and Robin’s delicious clam chowder and crab cakes…in case you are looking for an starter course for the Easter dinner!

Maggy’s Farm will have more plants this week (still too early for Tomatoes and peppers etc) and Karel with the Mason Bee Houses is back again too. The Feral Cat Coalition is coming, so if you have a stray kitty hanging around they can help you to catch and neuter it for free! Saving cat’s lives is the name of the game and preventing an over-population at this time of the year.
We are calling out for volunteers again! If you love the market and can spare a few hours a month (does NOT need to be every week!) Please see the manager at the Market or email Info@orcityfarmersmarket.com. We need all kinds of helping hands, from Set Up and Take Down to Info Booth help and help with events….we’re a fun bunch too!

You too could be wearing bunny ears if you volunteered!
