Congrats to Brown Bottle Farm!

By 20 September 2018

Congrats to Anna and Ryan…Brown Bottle Farm!

Missing from the Market this week is Brown Bottle Farm. They have a really good excuse to be absent though…they’re getting hitched! We wish them a long a happy marriage full of delicious food and the great community they are creating around them. You can give them your good wishes too…..they are back next week!

Lots of great winter squash already!

Summer squash, peaches, corn, tomatoes….make the most of these this week, the season is rapidly passing! Winter Squash is now making a debut and Sun Love Farm will have quite the variety on Saturday, including: Spaghetti, Delicate Zeppelin, Sweet Reba acorn squash, Gills Golden Pippin, and Red Kuri. Melissa sends out an email list of produce to her Farm Share customers and this link is taken from it….just in case you need another recipe for spaghetti squash: https://smittenkitchen.com/2009/11/moroccan-spiced-spaghetti-squash/

Leones Farm has plenty of tomatoes still!

Let’s not turn our backs on all the good late-summer produce though. Tomatoes are still around, but not for too much longer. OSU Master Food Preservers are making Salsa this Saturday in the Market Kitchen, giving you tastes, tips and recipes. Pick up tomatoes and get making and preserving some…safely!

Wild Oregon just called in , the tuna boat went out at noon today. Please call Robin if you want tuna reserved for this Saturday. 503591-7795. In addition she’ll have (fresh) Rougheye (rock fish), Steelhead and Halibut. Plus Crab, Shrimp and Clams on Saturday.

More apples this week from Kiyokawa Orchards: Cortland, Ruby Mac, Golden Supreme, Johnagold, plus Taylors Gold and Housui Pears (Taylors Gold are fab!) and Italian Prune Plums.

Fall ushers in changing colors, cold crisp mornings and a seasonal bounty of apples just ripe for pressing and tasting. Bring the family to the Market on Saturday October 6th….where kids  squeeze cider the old fashion way with a traditional apple press. Hot cider is then served to everyone!  Afterward, enjoy sampling of the market’s apple varieties and vote for your favorite.

Late September and October are the best months at the farmers market for all the fall produce and flowers. Enjoy shopping every Saturday with 55+ farmers and vendors now through October 27th. Mark your calendars or pick up a bookmark with dates at the Info Booth…’cause on Saturday November 3rd the 8th Winter Season opens and runs bi-weekly through April….whoo hoo. Get fresh all winter:)

Big gorgeous, colorful bouquets at this time of the season!
