Mission Statement
The Oregon City Farmers’ Market serves as a market place that supports the growth of sustainable agricultural businesses and food security by encouraging the consumption of locally grown fresh food. We support optimal health and well being of our Oregon City community members by offering natural resource and nutrition education through OSU Extension Service.
Market Objectives:
1 . Secure and manage the physical market site; 2. Provide services to our customers including vendor sales; disabled parking; entertainment; and social events during the market season; 3. Promote the market in the community through press releases, advertising and presentations to community groups; 4. Offer booth space for OSU Extension Service and other educational organizations so the public can learn about the valuable nutrition, agriculture and natural resource programs the City and County have to offer; 5. Promote locally grown food and value added food products by providing space for local farmers, youth and ethnic growers;
Description
The Oregon City Farmers’ Market operates year-round. The main season starts the first Saturday in May. The first Wednesday in June the mid-week market opens, and once the summer markets close, the Winter Market opens the first Saturday in November and runs every other weekend through April. It offers the local community an opportunity to take advantage of locally grown fresh produce and supports local agriculture. In addition, it provides a venue for educational groups to promote good nutrition, sustainable development and protection of the environment.
