We’re halfway through the winter season, and glad to see the back of some of the roughest weather so far. This Saturday’s weather looks so much better and we have a great line up of vendors to welcome you. We still have the $10 SNAP card match this year and kids (5-12yrs) get $2 to spend on fresh produce when they enroll in our POP (Power Of Produce) Club.  Joe Reverb and the Last Holdouts will be rockin’ it and hot food will back at the Market!

RJ Farms will have plenty of eggs, plus spinach, mizuna, arugula, radish, potatoes, onions and possibly a few carrots. This is the most difficult time of the yeart for fresh local produce, especially after this winter’s weather. It’s still too wet and cold to get field crops going and even the hoophouse growth has suffered. Two farms are taking a break this week (Small Farms Conference is on at OSU), we will see them next month. Back too in March is Maggys Farm with the first plants and Grano Bakery hopefully too. Their store opened last week and they have had an amazing response! Find them now at the corner of Washington and 15th, open 7am-4pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

Plenty of Kiyokawa Orchard's Crimson Crisp this Saturday.

Plenty of Kiyokawa Orchard’s Crimson Crisp this Saturday plus many other varieties of apples and pears!.

Fisher Ridge Farm will have a variety of pastured meats and fresh seafood this week includes wild Oregon Dungeness Crab, Sturgeon, Dover and Petrale Sole. Robin will also have Razor Clam Chowder, Shellfish and crab cakes, plus other fish frozen in the cooler.

2 Towns Hard Cider this Saturday!

2 Towns Hard Cider this Saturday!

What we are lacking in produce this week we are making up for in booze! Kings Raven Winery is at a wedding but Forest Edge Winery will be sampling.  2 Towns Cider is back….as is Stone Barn Brandyworks AND Eastside Distilling. Personal fave on a cold day….Eastside Distilling’s Below Deck Coffee Rum in a hot chocolate (made with a good powdered chocolate) and whipped cream sweetened with coconut sugar!

Probiotic beverage classNW Ferments will be back later this season and this summer too. Meanwhile they are holding a class on probiotic beverages later this month in Oregon City, call them up to reserve a seat! https://nwferments.com/

2017 FFE Vol Train Prog FlyerOur friends at the Clackamas OSU Extension office are offering a free intensive 6 week course on preparing healthy food and preserving…you just have to give back 40 hrs to community, may be even at our Market this summer:)  Training is in Milwaukie, call or email and get on the list!
