This Saturday Oct. 13th at the Market (9-2, rain or shine, 2051 Kaen Rd as usual)….Cider-Pressing all day! Kids can throw the apples in the hopper and squeeze away on the big wooden press…then you all get to taste it warm! Lots of seasonal changes at the Market this weekend…fall flavors, textures and colors are everywhere. 43 vendors , including 15 farms with Fall produce including pumpkins, grapes, figs, winter squash, gourds, corn, onions, carrots, greens, lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, garlic (now is a great time to plant it for next year!) potatoes, rosemary, kiwis berries, pears, plums and apples….ProFarm have their wonderful cider for sale ..take some home with you and have a real taste of Autumn this weekend.
Wild Oregon will be sampling fresh Albercore Tuna all day so you can taste just how good it is! Robin will have the best (and last of the season) fresh Albercore tuna for sale , plus troll-caught Chinook, Ling Cod and Rockfish..and whatever else she finds at the coast.
Pitkin Winterrowd Farms is taking orders starting this Saturday for pasture-raised local (Canby) Heirloom Bronze Turkeys! …bound to sell out so get your orders in quickly! Homegrown Harvest Farm is back this week with bags of their dry beans, pumpkins , potatoes and garlic. Aunt Tammy’s Treats are back this week too and will have Harvest Pupcakes!! (Both zucchini and carrot based.) Dogs love them and people are drawn to them! Out is Kombucha , Sir Sharp A Lot, He Sells These Shells and Diana’s Delights…all back next week though:)
End of summer special!!!! ….and just in time for the return of a good planting rain….The GREEN Corps youth will be selling Native Plants (from Bosky Dell Nursery in West Linn ) at the market this Saturday and for the next two weekends. Fall is a great time to plant natives, less water is required and plants have time to establish themselves well over the winter before the dry season next summer! The youth will have a wide variety of native plants and varieties available at great prices! They will be taking requests for specific varieties, so if there is something you want let them know and they will bring it to the market next week!

And for hot food this week….: Fall is definitely in the air and on Savory et Sweet’s menu this weekend! The Greek Sausage returns (by request!) It features Hansen Family sausage, sauteed onions with market peppers and tzatziki. Chris is also serving a new crepe called Chicken Tarragon ~ if you like tarragon, this ones for you. She’s making soup too….”Cream” of Cauliflower-Potato. This uses first of season market cauliflower with garlic & nutmeg. All of her soups are dairy & gluten free and served with La Provence rustic bread (cream is added for dairy lovers.) And the fall sweet crepe menu is here! Smore Crepe, the Pumpkin Creme Brulee with caramelized apples; Pumpkin Butter crepes and of course, Caramel Apple crepe with Graham’s Caramel sauce and market apples.

Parsons Farms now have both orange and PURPLE carrots!! Gently sauteed in Coconut Oil…they are super sweet:)

And talking of winter…we continue this Market another two weeks closing on Oct. 27th then the very NEXT Saturday we open the 2012/13 season of the DOWNTOWN OREGON CITY WINTER FARMERS MARKET on Saturday November 3rd (10-2, on 8th St in downtown Oregon City) every 1st and 3rd Sat. of the month, (with an extra Christmas Market on Dec. 22nd). 25+ vendors, great selection of Fall/Winter produce, pasture-raised meats, farm eggs (duck and chicken), fresh fish, wine, baked goods, preserves, hummus, salsas, vinegars, honey, wild mushrooms, dog treats, soaps, wood crafts…trees and wreaths for the Holidays too!
