Making back to school lunches? Plenty for their lunch box at the Wednesday Market! This week White Star Farms will have lots of lovely local carrots. Take home enough for school lunch carrot sticks, a dinner side dish of sauteed carrots with dill or a hearty lentil soup made with carrots, onions and some of their baby Roma tomatoes. YUM. Also this week they will have their wonderful lettuce mix, a variety of kale, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, summer squash, heirloom tomatoes and for the first time, dried tomatoes!
Parsons and Albeke Farms will berries, apples, peaches, potatoes, squash, cukes,tomatoes, corn, cabbage…and more. Food Forest Farms…farming the “permaculture” method will have Asian pears, regular pears, apples, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, Italian plums, honey…and this week a pork “special”….shoulder or leg roast for $3.99 lb!!! Great price for locally raised Berkshire or Kurobota pork. Liz will be taking pre-orders for Embden Goose, ready at the beginning of November. $5.99 lb..you can also find their birds at New Seasons Market.
Shy Ann Meats will have the usual great selection of cured meats…including sausages, bacon and smoked pork chops. The Hummus Stop will have their salads, hummus and pita, wine from Kings Raven Winery available in the bottle or by the glass…music by Daniel Cecil, playing folk and old faves!
Fresh cut flowers and even treats for the dogs…Aunt Tammy is back with her healthy and (according to the dogs)…delicious dog treats! Another lovely afternoon forecast…can’t be many more, so stop by the Market tomorrow and enjoy it while you can!
