So…listen up OC Market fans…you know about our nationally recognized Kids POP Club? (We’re still getting calls and emails from markets, cities and schools all over the US and Canada about it! ) This spring we received a generous donation from Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District, one also from On Point Community Credit Union, Bob’s Red Mill and Citizens Bank. Well, even so ,we get through a HUGE amount of dollars with 200-250 kids participating each WEEK! SO we are having a Friday fundraiser this week (July 20th) at Singer Hill Cafe….3-8pm, on 7th St.They have great food and drinks, reasonably priced , not only is it the best cafe in town but kid- friendly too, with a nice outside garden. % of all receipts between 3pm and 8pm go towards the program, plus we’ll have our donation tin out in case you want to make a direct donation…tax-deductable! Please come out and support, help us keep this program going through the summer and fall….creating healthy eating habits for our kids…and yes they are lovin’ their fruits and veggies!
Well..summer’s really here and it’s exciting calling the farmers to see what’s coming each week! The warmth is really bringing on the fruit and veggies and we’ll see more tomatoes and peppers arriving each week now…and the local corn will be coming next month…we have some from Washington already.
You can expect this Saturday to see Leone’s farm with hot house heirloom tomatoes, sungold cherry tomatoes, fresh free range brown eggs, strong Norwegian garlic strawberries, all kinds of different berries, Willamette sweet onions. Armenian cucumbers, lemon cucumbers. Rick Steffens Farm will have some large and small slicing tomatoes, onions, shallots, cukes, zukes, beans, NICE beets, broccoli…and white, purple, banana and padron peppers. Plus berries, and shiro plums…nice flavorful Japanese plums, tart skin super sweet flesh! Family Table Farm will have bok choy, nappa cabbage, radishes, kholrabbi, green ionions and Mexican grey squash…good flavor , great on the BBQ.
Apart from ALL the berries we will have tons of cherries and now the peaches are showing up….Bairds will have sweet sue peaches, which are a sweet cling peach…just awesome. Maryhill will have peaches too, as will Profarm .
Market chef, Amy will be sampling the Padron peppers 10am-1.30pm, stop buy and get a taste of these great little peppers, easy to prepare and so tasty! Nice on a hot day thrown on the BBQ or in a pan with oil …one in 10 is hot…fun game:) …..During the week Amy plans, prepares and cooks FREE meals for kids (up to 18 yrs.) at Eastham school through the summer vacation!
Wild Oregon is bringing fresh chinook, albacore tuna, rex sole, ling cod, arrowtooth flounder and shrimp….maybe more..who knows what will come off the boats…fresh for you this Saturday.
Alsea Acre Goat Cheese is sold at quite a few farmers markets…they end up sampling a lot of Market foods and rave about our very own Savory et Sweet’s crepes! Nancy says hands down they are THE best! Some include chevre and feta…and now you can make your own at home with Nancy’s lovely soft creamy goats cheese….stop by for a sample….the feta is wonderful and the olive chevre is a fave! The goats are gorging on the blooming clover right now and the cheese their milk produces is exceptional.

Mickelberry Gardens is back this Saturday, and every other Saturday after that for the rest of the season! Stop by their booth to pick up some local, raw, treatment-free honey, sample their delicious honey therapies, and check out their all-natural beeswax and honey skin care offerings.
Sweet tooth?….Gram’s Caramels will be featuring the Pumpkin Pie caramels this Saturday, a little bit like Christmas in July! These caramels are not made with pumpkin, but rather have the spices in them that remind of us of that wonderful pie. Cinnamon, nutmeg and clove give the creamy caramel a wonderful flavor which is also great to put into tea or coffee! Such a treat! La Provence will have Marion berry and raspberry pastries..as well as their crusty breads.
Victoria’s Lavender are cutting bunches and will be bringing their French “Lavandins”. These are very fragrant, more dramatic long stemmed lavender bouquets. Enjoy them now, fresh, dry for later…or to make crafts.

This is the LAST Saturday for the Master Gardener Food Growing workshops….this week they are focusing on 4 Season Container-Growing…how to produce all through the fall and winter. 10am-10.30am.
