What’s in the Market this week?……strawberries, raspberries, blueberries , blackberries, rhubarb…and cherries! Cucs, zucs, beans, shelling peas, sugar pod peas, beets, carrots, chard, kale, onions, shallots, garlic scapes, artichokes, broccoli , kohlrabi, cauliflower, potatoes, cilantro…and more! Farm eggs, just-caught fish, straight from the coast…including FRESH SARDINES, chinook salmon and shrimp, and local pasture-raised meats, beef, pork…all great on the grill for the 4th ! Special THIS week…….. FRESH whole chickens from Hansen Family Farms! Raised on fresh grass and feed milled from a local family operated feed mill. Can’t you smell it now?.. roasting in the oven with garlic and tarragon and lemons..served warm with new potatoes and a salad with a crispy lettuce, walla-walla onions , radishes and sweet snow peas? Healthy and DE-licious!
And for appetizers for the Fourth we’ll have Alsea Acre Alpine Goats Cheese back this week…Party in a Jar anyone ?! Fabulous salamis from Olympic Provisions and The Hummus Stop will have their great selection of hummus , salads and pita…and for a truly easy quick treat try Diana’s Delights Jalapeno Jam over cream cheese with crackers! Breads and pastries from La Provence Bakery, Big Foot Bread (now baked right here in Oregon City!)..and gluten-free treats from Terrapin Bakery.

It’s Mountain Meadow Honey’s last Saturday before they take off the summer…so stock up! Returning later in July is Mickleberry Gardens with their honey and honey-based health products. Market Pasta is back this week, as is Madrugada Pottery…and Body and Brain Yoga…back massage anyone? Have you by-passed the Kombucha booth…not knowing what it was? Well do you have a treat in store. Amy will give you a sample of their fermented tea……you be asking for more! Like champagne and apple cider this sparkling drink is SO refreshing!
On the Gardening front OSU Master Gardeners will be having a workshop on Fruit-Tree Pruning at 10-10.30 am (sponsored by Wilco Farm Stores where you can buy everything you need for growing and preserving food!)……..and all day, CARE Oregon and farmer’s wife Laura Huckaba will be doing container gardening on a budget, using common throw-a-way household containers…showing you how to grow salad and greens in limited space…leave with a container planted with seeds that will grow food! Three Brothers and Ten Oaks nurseries have plants for your garden…..and don’t forget to pick up a bunch of flowers on your way out!
The CafeCowboys will play music from 10-1pm. Hot food and drinks supplied by Tamale House and Savory et Sweet , together with delicious fresh fruit smoothies and coffee from the Fresh Start Cart…and wines from Kings Raven Winery!
