SO…BIG Market this week! It’s our annual GREEN FAIR..everything from Wool to Aeroponic Growing Towers to Organic Baby Food to Edible Landscaping and a Native Plant Display, Geothermal Heating and Cooling, Insulated Windows, Natural Resource Information, Waste Reduction, Green Building, Solar…you name it!…we’ll have a great display of all things GREEN this Saturday ! Workshops , demos…PLUS…drawings (all day) for some really GREAT prizes!!!!
…and don’t forget it’s Father’s Day on Sunday…pick him up a surprise from the market:) Sunset Woodworking, Spindles and Fiber, Utopia Woodcrafters and Madrugada Pottery all have excellent gift ideas. Or you could bring Dad’s tools and knives and have them sharpened by Sir Sharp-A-Lot!
In addition to ALL this we’ll have some spectacular produce, including strawberries (Hoods too!), rhubarb, the very first cherries (not a ton yet so get there early), asparagus, artichokes, the first cucumbers and zucchini, peas, favas, lettuce, collards, kale, chard, carrots, beets, cilantro, radishes, onions, shallots, spinach, nappa cabbage, bok choy, potatoes….plus meats, goats cheese, eggs , veggie and herb plants , and flowers, all from 19 local farms!
Baked goods, honey, hummus, preserves, wines, kombucha (delicious on a hot day…and it will be warm on Saturday!) Market Pasta are back and we’ll have fresh fish…although the list hasn’t come through yet! Look for it on Facebook later:)
We’ll start the morning off with a workshop at 10am on Edible Landscaping in residential gardens by OSU Master Gardener Sherry Sheng, Then at 10.45am we’ll have a workshop on a vertical aeroponic growing system, the Tower Garden…eat local from “Tower to Table”! At 11.30am Natrophathic Dr Jesse Buttler will demonstrate Healthy Cooking with Market Foods….keep yourself feeling great while protecting the planet!…plus more surprises:) OSU Master Food Preservers will be on hand to advise you on jam-making and veggie-pickling…stop by and get inspired to preserve the bounty this summer. Don’t forget our local Wilco Farm Store has all the preserving supplies you’ll need!
The POP Club kids will be choosing seeds to sow in the POP Club Fun Booth (sponsored by Citizens Bank!) and can sign up and get $2 to spend on fresh fruits and veggies or food plants every time they come to market…. thanks to Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District…see them at the Green Fair too! The weather is looking warm so cool off with an Organic ice-cream, a fresh fruit smoothie or a glass of wine! Tamales and delicious Crepes…live music…really?!! WHAT a way to spend a Saturday morning!
